Benjamin Turns 3

Now that we're are finished having children, I am realizing how quickly they grow up. I am trying to hold on to every memory I can and have become a mushy mom. After I found this song, I was done for.

Potty Training

(Showing off his "Mater" underwear)
Okay, so the bane of my existence is potty training. I have long looked forward to the day when I had no more diapers to change and no more asking "Do you need to go potty?"

I believe that day has FINALLY arrived. All three of my boys have taken until the age of 3 to be trained, and Hailey was just 2 1/2. Being that Benjamin's our fourth child, I didn't stress out as much about getting started. However, since he's coming up on his 3rd birthday, I knew it was about that time. He can be pretty stubborn, but Taylor's really good at talking him into things and he's been constantly hinting to him to try it out. Finally it worked, and now I would officially consider him potty trained.

Let the party begin!!!!

An Enchanted Party

Rachel and her daughter Reese came into town to visit. While here, Mom had the fantastic idea of having an Enchanted Princess Sleepover for the princess cousins who were in town. Since the movie had just come out, and it's definitely a favorite in our family, I thought it was a great idea.
Hailey and I have been trying out cake making, so we decided to try one out for the party. I literally had 10 minutes to whip up some frosting and decorate the cake, so I was impressed (and a little shocked) at how well it turned out.

Queen Mom showing off her fine jewelry.

Princess Reese trying on her boa, jewels and tiara.

Princess Hailey posing for the camera.

Princess Clara is such a doll. She definitely knows how to work the camera.

The banquet was delicious (mmmm....hot dogs!)

The Queen Mothers.

The boys didn't get invited, but unfortunately were able to crash the party since their rides weren't able to leave yet.
All in all, it was such a cute idea and the girls absolutely loved it. Thanks Mom for hosting such a spectacular event!

Happy St. Patrick's Day!

My children happen to get so into the mood of St. Patrick's Day that they don't want to be caught dead the next morning not having green on. Much to my dismay, they felt that drawing faces on their stomachs with green marker would do the trick.
Sunday night, we let them build a fort in the living room to sleep in. They were planning to pounce on Daddy in the morning because he fell asleep w/out any green on.....until I saved the day. I woke him up early, handing him a green t-shirt to put on. He fell back asleep and not 15 minutes later, all the kids came in thinking they were going to pinch him!
Foiled....mooohaaahahaha!

Cutting Hair, Backscratching, and Time Machines

I finally got tired of the big fight of giving Ben a haircut. He acts as if he's being tortured, so I decided to cut it super short this time. That way it will be a long time before I need to cut it again. His first words after his haircut....."You cut my hair all off!"

Jordan asked Benjamin to scratch his back one night at the table (he actually does do a pretty good job at it), then Noah wanted in on the action. After a minute, Ben asked, "Does this feel good boys?"

On the way to school one day, Benjamin asked me if we could go see the "Time Machine". I had no idea what he was talking about. The other kids didn't have a clue either. On our way home, he saw a Bobcat and exclaimed...."The time machine!"

I still haven't figured out where he got it from, but for now his best friend is the "Time Machine" working in our neighborhood and he needs to see it every day.

Jordan & Noah

Deja Vu!

We've always thought that Jordan and Benjamin had very similar looks. They even tend to act alike at times. The other day, Ben was out in the back yard, running around with the Nerf gun and his "protective" goggles. After I showed it to Taylor, he mentioned that it looked eerily familiar to another picture we took long ago.

Jordan FINALLY Gets His Hair Cut

At the beginning of the school year, Jordan asked me if it would be okay to grow his hair longer for "Crazy Hair Day". I was fine with it, given that it was within limits. I thought for sure he would drop the subject and we'd deal with it when the time came. Each and every haircut, he reminded me that he was going to grow his hair out in January. I cringed at the thought of it. His hair is so thick and wavy that it has a hard time keeping from looking messy.
Finally February arrived. I couldn't wait to chop it all off. I teased him incessantly about cutting it short. I called the school to find out exactly which day they were having crazy hair day. She read me the list......and what do you know......NO CRAZY HAIR DAY!! Are you kidding me?! All this fuss over raggedy hair for nothing. So anyways, we ended up working it into "Wear your favorite shirt with writing on it" Day.
Now that that's over with, it's officially short. Yay!
By the way.......Thank you Michael for doing this for him. He was so proud of his fantastic new hairdo. Even if it was for one day.

We're Having a Baby!!!

Now those of you who know me, know there is no way it would be ME who would be having the baby! I'm just trying to keep up with the four I already have.

Jordan got some fish for his birthday last December. Ever since, it has been a complete obsession of his. This swordtail gave birth to what we estimated at 50 and 60 fish the other night. The whole process took what I guess to be about 3-4 hours. It was fascinating watching her give birth. Even more fascinating to see her whip around and gulp them down if they weren't quite fast enough to get away from her. Jordan commented that he was glad his mom didn't try to eat him.

We have learned a lot about fish the past few months. When I found out that these fish have babies once a month, I just about passed out. Then to see the male try to mate with her the very next day! Poor little mama.

One of These Things is Not Like the Other

One night, David & I were at Mom & Dad's house dropping off the grandkids for a sleepover. As we were searching through Mom's office for a DVD, David happened to notice a row of cookbooks on the shelf.
Right smack in the middle of all those delicious chocolate, brownie, fudge and cookie recipe books was
"The Biggest Loser" cookbook.
Ironic isn't it?
